We went to this small cafe during a winter storm day in Montreal. Despite no other place being open or ready to sit us, this local cafe welcomed us with open arms. Although not everything in the menu is vegan, they have a vast selection of vegan dishes for you to try. This includes soups, pastries, breads, and meals. 

We had the opportunity to try the vegan poutine during our stay. The sauce on this poutine is made from mushrooms and it is so rich in flavour that I would consider it a culinary delicacy. Talking with the chef, we found that this marvelous sauce takes two whole days to make, as it needs to sit in to absorb all the flavours. The cheese, although of unknown origins, was delicious in on itself. When the plate first comes to you, the cheese blocks stand out. However, the more time passes, the more the cheese melts and blends in with the rest of the dish discreetly integrating itself with the sauce. The potatoes themselves were perfectly cooked. Not one undercooked and not one overcooked. The crisp exterior along with the soft interior of these potato cubes made eating them a joyful experience that I wish everyone in their lifetime could experience. 

Overall it was a great dish, and I will return next time I am in Montreal.

Vegan Poutine

I had the delight of trying this dish during one of my visits in Quebec City. We found this small local restaurant while we were walking around downtown. We ordered a pizza and a poutine. It took approximately 20 minutes for everything to be ready which gave us just enough time to walk around the beautiful streets around the restaurant and visit a small European grocery store nearby.

This poutine was well worth the wait. You begin by opening the warm container and you're met with a cloud of evaporation from the hot, tasty meal. The first thing you will notice is the gravy sauce on top, along with the cheese curds and finally the potato wedges underneath.

The tastes in this dish are unbelievably good. From your first bite, you will be met with flavours that will make you proud to be Canadian, a vegan Canadian. The cheese and gravy contain the perfect amount of salt, no more and no less. The potato wedges contain that taste of freshly cut and baked potatoes that we all long for. However, I must say that some of the potatoes were slightly overcooked.

Finally, the atmosphere of this restaurant will have you feeling like a local. With a small place, Attaboy is able to create a nice and cozy atmosphere right in the middle of the city. 

Overall, this was a great dish and I recommend anyone visiting Quebec City to try this tasty meal if they wish to feel like a true Canadian!

This dish was an amazing surprise for my palate. It features butter-free bread that has a great texture and taste to it. Then, you get to vegetables: a nice mixture of onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles that enhance the taste of this burger to another level. Additionally, you will taste an exquisite plant-based bacon in your every bite. And I can't forget to mention the VGnaise sauce that brings every aspect of the burger together. Almost like a glue to all the flavours that enhances the taste. 

You may furthermore decide to swap your regular old fries for a more risqué side dish such as vegan poutine.  Should you decide to go for this option, you will be delighted by the flavours in this poutine. From the taste of the fries to the vegan cheese, this poutine does not miss. 

Overall, if you decide to go for this burger, be warned that you will yearn for this day in the future.
