Review of Baklava at Kind Kones 1 Mont Kiara by stevenneoh
🤮🤮 #ruinedbycoconut I love what Kind Kones stands for as a brand and I love how creative they are with their flavours 👍 But I cannot love #coconut, not in my sweets 😥
I'm usually very judicious with KK, checking for enough counterbalancing flavours. This simplistic approach of "larger number of ingredients = less pronounced coconut taste" betrayed me this time 😔 For though this had firm notes of #cinnamon, #clove, #pistachio, and #nutmeg, supplemented with gentler #citrus touches, I tasted only the #coconutmilk in the base. They don't even use it in real #baklava, why here? 😒
And yeah, putting #filo pastry into something as moist as an #icecream just makes it soggy and chewy. That didn't work either 😐

potatoamur I feel your disappointment on a spiritual level5 likesReply
stevenneoh Disappointment, bemusement, and resignation fighting for primacy, a bit like what the discordant flavours are doing in this ice-cream 😏3 likesReply
kerent10 Sounds like a huge discordance of flavors 😕😵💫1 likeReply
potatoamur That's a colossal pity. I adore the pith of the flavours - Baklava! 1 likeReply

akanksha-r Oh no! 😬 that’s disappointing. I’ve never/rarely tasted strong coconut flavours with Kind Kones in Singapore, but I hate that feeling of biting into too much coconuttiness where there shouldn’t be!2 likesReply
stevenneoh Coconut is always strong for me - heightened sense of things I don't like 😅1 likeReply
anjunj Usually the ingredients list is in descending order according to their weight. So maybe the next time you could buy coconut flavoured sweets if its somewhere in the end of the list that way it won't taste that bad😅 (though i don't consider coconut in sweets bad😂🤪)1 likeReply
stevenneoh I mean, coconut is generally gaining in prominence so I'll just have to grin and bear it sometimes 🥺1 likeReply
aqualing As a #coconutlover, I feel you. It’s too overpowering and doesn’t leave chance to other flavors😞1 likeReply
