The options in stores are quite limited now, so I am grateful to have a meat-free soya-free mince option at Spar. I usually use Woolies vegetarian burgers, broken up in the frying pan, which I prefer to eating them as burgers. Taste is not bad, I cook with olive oil, garlic, onions and diluted tomato paste and add vegetables like carrots or peas, or potatoes, or pasta. It sticks to the frying pan a bit. #stellenbosch

My family and I have really been enjoying this mince! It's great in pasta and rice dishes

Anyone else devastated by the discontinuation of the Oumph! mince in South Africa? I’ve tried just about every mince alternative I could get my hands on, but nothing really compares to it.

This Denny plant based mince is one of the many minces I’ve tried in order to find a suitable replacement for Oumph! but it definitely falls short in the protein department. Tastewise, I was pleasantly surprised because wow, it does not look good 😅 what it lacks in presentation, it makes up for in taste. I also find that it is generally much cheaper than some of the other mince options.

This is a soy free product, which is great for anyone who might be allergic. The protein sources in the mince include mushrooms (58%), chickpeas (23%) and pea protein (3%), but it only comes up to 6.9g of protein per 100g.

I prepared it with some onions, mushrooms and some tomato sauce and I had it with spaghetti in a béchamel sauce. I really enjoyed it and I would have it again 🍝
