I remember the first time my family started eating chilli bak kwa some years ago... This tastes like what I remembered! I still like the original traditional flavour the most; nonetheless this signature chilli version is pretty addictive! Also a little reminiscent of the Makan Vegan chilli sauce that they also sell at the Bak Kwa shop. The texture is of course great as with the original flavour. Perfectly chewy yet tender with slightly crispy charred edges - made using Omni mince meat so there is a great mouthfeel. (Not to mention the fact that Omni mince meat is high in protein and fibre; plus low in carbs, fat, and calories!) You can get this from the Makan Vegan Bak Kwa retail shop, a few units away from the Geylang Coffeeshop. Or pre-order at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfz_CxadVPlmN88Z0hbH4LczEZkBa9uuVvocnceZK0sgP5AYQ/viewform P.S. They are currently having a twin pack promo! (Allium-free, U.P. $49 / 1 bag 500g) #vegancny

Good texture, slightly chewy which i like. Not a fan of spice but i bought the chilli flavor because it has more depth. Packs a punch but ok after a few bites and doesnt burn the tummy. Not too sweet which is a definite plus. Each pack is 500gm (about $48) and has about 7 individually vaccuumed sealed pieces. Was told it was made with omni meat. I bought it at Makan Vegan’s retail shop in geylang and you can try before buying. Would buy again for CNY.

Although there are other great vegan bak kwas (? can I make bak kwa plural like this LOL) around in Singapore now, what makes this stand out is that it is chilli flavoured! 🌶️ Addictively savoury and spicy flavour profile, similar to what I remember from the meat versions of chilli bak kwa. (Flashback to CNY visiting at my grandmother's house in my teenage years; now I can do it with a vegan version~ 🥹) As with the original flavour, the mouthfeel is pretty good, made using @omnifoods #omnifoods 'minced meat'. 🧧🧨 While the previous version was firmer and chewier, the new version is now significantly softer and more tender. Reshaped from large squares to 6cm bite-sized coin bak kwa, individually vacuum sealed (packaging doesn't seem so environmentally friendly, but I was told it's needed to maintain its freshness). 🪙💰 Swipe ➡️ to the end for a picture of a piece! 📸 (Allium-free, $35 / 20 pieces 340g box, $19 / 180g bag) #sgvegan #sglocal #chinesefood #alliumfree #bakkwa #omnimeat #vegancny #cny #chinesenewyear
