Review of Banana chips - Trader Joe's by kyu
Although they’re labeled as dried fruit, these #banana chips feel like candy masquerading as something somewhat healthy. They’re hard, crunchy, and sweet, with the addition of “natural banana flavor” making it so that every few bites, you’ll get a strong impression of banana Laffy Taffy or those little yellow hard candies (Runts?) It was a bit strange at first, but almost before I knew it, I had eaten a third of the bag — they’re dangerously easy to #snack on! Maybe I have a secret #sweettooth, after all.
Surprisingly, they don’t have much added sugar (though I would prefer none; they’re plenty sweet.) They do, however, contain a significant amount of saturated fat from the coconut oil they’re deep-fried in. It’s both gratifying and upsetting how cheap these are ($1.99!) because now that I know how much I like them, I won’t be able to stop myself from getting another bag. This is the sort of thing of which I’d ideally limit my day-to-day consumption, though I would happily bring them along on a hike or other outing as a source of quick, portable — and delicious! — energy.
