ARTIFICIAL PROTEIN BAR WITH WELL-BALANCED FLAVOUR STRAIGHT FROM A LAB
Taste/bite: I am not a fan of coffee or the taste of coffee, but purely tastewise I appreciated this cappucino flavoured bar. The bar has a good texture. Chews away easily, non-sticky. Not too sweet. Digests pretty well.
Ingredients: Amazing how many ingredients this bar contains. This is really laboratory food! The dark outside coating is no real chocolate, but an imitation. The proteins used are soy, rice and pea protein. A whole series of added synthesized vitamins and minerals.The coffee flavour comes from 0,3 % of soluble coffee. Some of the ingredients are enigmatic. Frankly scary. This is an overprocessed food, a synthetic concoction of a plethora of refined substances. Reading this label cured me from buying this product in the future. No palm oil, at least that’s a good point. There’s 20 g of protein per 100 g of product. Thus, one 40 g bar contains 8 g of protein.
Shape/Conditioning: Relatively flat and regular bar. The package is not compostable, the information on the label is very complete. Nicely designed artwork that’s there to seduce us to eat this kind of Frankenstein recipe (my opinion).
Price: I paid 1,99 € (January 2023), for a total weight of 40 g. Not cheap, but in line with other bars in the same category on the shelves. With regards to the poor nutritional quality, this is expensive. Financial benefits on this type of food (bars) are enormous. Consider eating 40 g of (dried) chickpeas after cooking them and you get the same amount of protein for a fraction of this price.
The bar is made in Slovakia.
