Good crackers to have in the kitchen for a quick #snack
This box contains 42 mini packages which I don’t like, a lot of garbage generated.
These crackers are traditional and a #musthave that you can combine with almost everything.
Here I used them to eat my nopales #salad - I can not have enough of this tasty dish 😻😻😻
A very quick #nerdyfact about the nopales -the fresh nopales are super green however when you cook them they lose that color but ... there is a nice secret 🤫 to keep them as green as they were in the cacti 🌵
I followed my grandma secret and they were just as perfect as they could !be 😘 the secret is to add a coin of copper in the cooking. Need to dig about the actual effect of cooper - it’s much more about the oxidation process 🧐 but for cooking nopales is the secret 😉

rikesh Sounds like your grandma is a wise lady Abi, so interesting how copper can make the difference for this nopales recipe. The perfect looking snack 😋 💚1 likeReply
malarky I can’t wait for your update on the copper! Is it assimilated by the nopales and is it perfectly okay for consumption? Would it work for preparing other chloro-filled (ha!) greens to keep the colour? 3 likesReply
abi88 Its totally ok for consumption in fact there is a small town in Michoacán Mex where people fabricate all kind of kitchen item made of copper, if you have a copper pot there is no need to use the coin but if not just one is enough .. my grandma had used the same for years maybe decades 😜 we only use it for nopales but ... probably works fine with other greens (in case chlorophyll is implicated in this green green process) I have not found an explanation about it... but I can say that copper also has antibacterial properties —- years ago I worked with nanoparticles of copper to remove pathogens from water and copper works super good 🤓 will keep reading about it and let you know if something interesting come up. 2 likesReply
malarky I would love to know whatever you find Abi. I have some pan, and copper is the heat conductor, but the interior of the pan is stainless. Of course I have seen a lot of vintage copper pans… Reply
aqualing Bomb drop! Thank you sooo much for sharing the secret “ingredient”🙏🏼 I’ll try it out next time! 2 likesReply
abi88 Remember to heat the copper coin - my grandma add water in a pot — but in the same burner she places carefully the coin — when water is boiling then the nopales are put inside — when the nopales and water start boiling you need to add the heated copper coin (she uses a spoon to take the heated coin from the burner)— this will produce a thermal process but is fine — and a lot of patience then you will see the magic 😍 2 likesReply
aqualing Making sure I’m getting this right: do you heat the coin in the flame? 1 likeReply
abi88 Yes!!! Is the second secret 🤐 should be as hot as possible - just leave the coin there until the water/nopales start to boil then add the copper coin 1 likeReply
aqualing Got it! Thanks soooo much for the detail🙏🏼 Can’t wait to try it! (also to put the loose pennies to use for once😅)1 likeReply
