I mean, can't go wrong with crumpets! Add butter, perfect for breakfast. Good ratios of softness and firmness. Easily found in the supermarket.

This six-pack cost exactly £1 and my UK trip would simply not have been complete had I returned without it 😉 I had over six years in England and if my maths is correct I probably polished off about two thousand #crumpets in that time 😋 I used to combine them with dairy butter, but their wondrous spread-absorbing qualities also work on peanut butter and jam, TIL ☺️ Lush, luscious sin 🤤🤤

Found these crumpets at Spar 🛒, being the last package!! They warmed up nice and fluffy, I was inspired to make a breakfast sandwich with Heura salchichas, Violife slices and my own tofu scramble 😋. #sinoesveganonoescomida

Crumpets, to my surprise, have been a staple part of the UK diet since 5th century. If we made them from scratch, they’d be fairly nutritious as they are low calorie and set you up for the day, consisting of flour, water, yeast and salt. But the problem lies in them being processed and us having no control over the enormous amount of added salt. For that reason it’s best to limit this classic pancake to one a day, but they are delicious daubed with vegan spread and a jam or marmalade of your choice.
