Kimbap

Not a fan of seaweed on the outside of sushi, but this was amazing. 

Finally got my hands on the elusive Kimbap! It definitely hits the spot when you want or miss sushi. If they keep stocking it I’ll keep buying it.

This Kimbap is amazing!! I didn’t expect much because it’s frozen but it taste just as good as fresh kimbap! I usually make it myself but this saves me a lot of time and is a quick, healthy meal. I understand the hype and wish there wasn’t a 2 per person limit on them. 😢

Kimbap lover here enjoying this easy to heat and eat #lazyvegan meal!! Finally got my hands on this to try and so glad I did! Another crazy busy week and what a lifesaver this meal turned out to be! Dipped in some chili 🌶️ sauce cuz #welikeitspicy ! Found in the freezer section at Trader Joe's. The entire roll is sitting in a plastic holder #ditchplasticsavetheocean that is to be heated up in it and the outside wrap after cutting a slit in the packaging. After microwaving let sit for a minute and enjoy or fry till crispy. I airfryed mine for a couple minutes on 370 F. It came out slightly crispy and gave it a nice texture on the outside while keeping the center soft and chewy!
Variety of veggies and tofu in this roll were delightful and so flavorful! Salty, slightly sweet and tangy from lemon 🍋 and pickled radish!
I so should have grabbed 2 of these to keep one in the freezer for back up!

I’ve been a bit intimidated to try this, as the instructions call for microwaving but I don’t have a working microwave. I ended up steaming them and it worked out well! I’ve not come across restaurant vegan kimbap yet so I’ve only had homemade before so I don’t have a base for comparison to anything authentically made but I really enjoyed this and am so happy that TJs chose to make this roll vegan. I’m not sure how anyone could not love fried tofu and it made a nice base for the filling. The filling was seasoned well. A gochujang Mayo or other dipping sauce would be a nice accompaniment but I find it flavorful enough on it’s own to not need it. The rice doesn’t have the perfect texture but one wouldn’t expect a frozen product of this nature to compare with freshly made. I think this is a tasty, fun and reasonably priced convenience product that I would repurchase. (I’ve also seen that H-Mart has several vegan frozen kimbap options so I’ll definitely need to make an H-Mart trip for those and some other delicious items once I’m near one.)
