I think every kid who grew up in these parts will remember these #hawflakes 😌 They look innocuous but they're nutritionally speaking truly nasty. Haw and lots and lots of sugar, my #sweettooth was so happy after I feed it two such tubes over the span of about seven minutes 🤪
But hey, #plasticfree paper wrapping 🙌 This was in a pretty little jar of local snacks (2nd picture) provided on the house by the Prestige Hotel, so #malaysianeats it is 😉

A lot of nostalgia finding these in the Asian store. Adult me thinks they’re just ok and quite small but 5 year old me loved them. Apparently made out of the haw fruit, whatever that is. My grandmother used to give these to my brother and I as snacks, maybe that’s the real reason why I loved them 🥰. #childhoodmemories #veganisnotscary (76)

A colleague gave me these #hawflakes. My first thought was that it is some kind of flaky spice, but it is not. It is candy.
It is Chinese sweets made from the fruit of the Hawthorn.
It is like a fruit roll but just a bit drier. It has the colour of a guava roll.
I think Asian shop might have these, but I won't buy them.
