This fried chicken is AMAZING! Way better than gardein, and much healthier ingredients. It's made of non GMO soy, wheat gluten, chickpeas, nutritional yeast, and seasonings. You bake it for 12 minute, and the result is crispy on the outside, chewy and juicy on the inside, mouth watering "chicken". I like to dip it in a sauce, or eat it on a bagel with cream cheese, ketchup, and lettuce. It's on the salty side for sure, so beware of that.
So these are kind of like deep fried nuggets. I thought the image on the package makes the nuggets look bigger than they actually are. They were good, but I still prefer Gardein crispy tenders. OR homemade vegan fried chicken (my hubby is an excellent chef and makes vegan fried chicken from scratch, tastes like the real thing!!). I would maybe recommend this for someone who loves really deep fried chicken but doesnt know how to make vegan fried chicken yet. It was tasty but I probably wont purchase it again
Delicious! I needed to broil for a bit to get crispy but they ended up quite satisfying - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This reminds me of the double-frozen tofu fried chicken; pretty sure it’s either that or a similar method. Was expecting larger pieces but they are essentially varying sizes between a nugget or tender. #veganisnotscary
I am psyched to see another chicken-less chicken on the market, especially one as good as this! I think it had better nutritional profiles than others and tastes so good! #uplandspeak
I love the flavor of these fried chicken pieces, but I don't think the texture is quite there. However, they're still pretty delicious! You can find Better Chew at Whole Foods locations in California as well as in the Butcher's Son market in Berkeley.
