Review of Roasted Sweet Potato at The Rooftop Restaurant at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre by sianski
It’s sad to say but the best thing about this meal was the view I had of the river 🫤
The Royal Shakespeare Theatre has a fantastic riverside location and this branch of their cafe service is right on the river bank. It’s lovely.
Unfortunately, the dish was lacking. The cubes of sweet potato were tasteless, as was the pickled red onion although the crunchy texture was nice. The main problem was the roasted chicken peas, they were so dry and hard, it was a chore to chew them and again no flavour. The best element was the vegan feta which had a pleasant creaminess. The salad leaf was fine but I think they’d forgotten the olive oil dressing. This is when I wonder if the chef ever tastes what they’re sending out. If they had I would expect they’d have had a rethink and tried to save this dish from my negative comments.
I’m glad they thought of putting something vegan on the menu though.
Price £8 for the dish
Priceless view 💫
