Review of Focaccia at Azul Italiano (Shanghai Baiyulan Plaza) by sianski
This restaurant provided one of the highlights to eating out on my recent trip to Shanghai.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and although they don’t officially list any vegan options yet, there were a couple of items that are naturally vegan and they were quick to offer adaptations.
Without the help of the Chinese member of our family who could translate for me I would have come unstuck, but with her kind help, I had a delish range of dishes with no animals harmed.
We started with this perfectly prepared focaccia dressed in olive oil and rosemary.
The dough was lightly crisped at the edge and just the right amount of chew at the centre. The aromatic bread was presented with three flavoursome dips, guacamole, sundried tomatoes, and a basil pesto.
It really got the appetite going.
