No Cow

I can see why these bars would be polarizing. They are extremely dense (which does, in all fairness, bolster their mimicry of cookie dough,) artificially sweet, and have an overtly #protein-y texture. I didn’t find the chalkiness too off-putting, but the flavor was kind of strange — there was a vaguely chemical scent and aftertaste that I couldn’t get used to. I also didn’t find this bar especially filling and wouldn’t recommend using it as a meal replacement, especially if you’re prone to an upset stomach. Something about them (the fiber? the sugar alcohol?) was not gut-friendly for me. The bars also contain palm oil, though it’s supposedly sustainably sourced.
I got a box of 4 for $3.99, but they can retail for double; while 20g of protein is pretty impressive, I can’t see myself shelling out that kind of money for something I felt so ambivalent about. It’s always nice to try another vegan option, but this product just wasn’t a good fit for me.

nbacha Good to know. I’m always on the hunt for low carb high protein bars that do not taste like fake sweetener or chalk. 1 likeReply
