Mighty Pea

Was looking to find a protein powder both suitable for vegans and ideally made by a vegan company. Happy to have found that Mighty Pea/Milk produce their own. Of the limited options, it’s affordable too, and comes with a host of other nutrients to help meet daily needs, like spirulina, zinc, B12, etc. Always nice to have something that helps with athletic needs by giving that extra low-cal protein boost and supports general well-being at the same time. Only not five stars on nutrition for the same reasons as any protein powder or supplement; that is, we’re not sure if you absorb these nutrients as well in their supplemented form as in whole foods. The bigger the brand and the more positive reviews and accreditations from nutritional bodies there are, the more confident we can be. Since it’s a smaller brand and this a lesser know product, you gotta take the gleaming ingredients list with a pinch of salt. But yes, certainly ticks the nutritional, convenient and affordable boxes to my knowledge. We certainly at the very least know that pea, hemp, rice and flaxseed, where this brand sources its protein, are effective and reliable sources, as are the greens added (spirulina, matcha, chlorella). Tastes lovely just with water as well with plant milk. For extra decadence it makes a double-chocolatly drink when added to hot chocolate. Not a particularly low-cal option of course lol. Seems to mix well, though I am using a food processor since I haven’t acquired a shaker yet, so most anything would probably mix well in that case. They do include a plastic scoop within each pack, which isn’t great from a sustainability perspective. Would be good if you could purchase one separately as an add-on instead if needed. Fine to start with, since I didn’t have any, just makes me a bit caution of buying on a regular basis, since I’ll build up any unnecessary pile of redundant plastic scoops… All in all, I’m happy Mighty have this product! For those looking to support vegan-owned brands, I’m glad to have this option. Most out their are existing whey brands’ vegan version, which is fine, but I’m happy to support wholly vegan creators branching out and doing it themselves. There are a couple others I’ll try in the future too. Went for Mighty since they have a great bundle deal when you get three packs currently, increasing the affordability, so I encourage others to get the word out and assess for themselves. Aside from chocolate, they also have salted caramel and berry flavours.
