Review of No Beef Base - Better Than Bouillon by babsyeats
I tried the no-beef better than bouillon for the broth in an instant pot beef stew using gardein beefless tips, celery, onion, carrots, white potatoes, sweet potatoes and garlic. I used a 4 minute cook time which in hindsight if you're going to use a very warm broth you'll want to reduce that cook time by at least a minute, so 3 minutes.
I didn't particularly like the texture of the gardein beefless tips so in the future I wouldn't add those and will instead substitute baby Bella mushrooms. My potatoes, both white and sweet, where overdone so in the future I will either not use very warm broth and try the four minutes again or use the very warm broth and go with 3 minutes.
As for the better than bouillon no-beef flavor, it far exceeded my expectations. I typically use a powdered broth and that one is good but this one has so much more umami flavor. It's not particularly easy to find in stores but it's worth the search. Because this broth-based is a paste it dissolves in warm water easily. There is no grittiness and no worries of floating chunks of dry powder. I found it much easier to use than bouillon cubes and powder and the flavor to be much more intensified and rich tasting.
