Review of Halloumi alternative - Tesco by sunporklegogay
First off, this product has nothing to do with halloumi. It doesn't taste like one, it doesn't look like one, it doesn't feel like one. At all. But it doesn't mean that the taste is bad, I think the taste is ok. It becomes very soft inside after frying unlike halloumi. The skin becomes crispy which is maybe something they meant by "halloumi" because it doesn't melt into a lava like other cheeses. Price is rather high. Will I buy it again? Maybe, if I don't have any other choice since it's not terrible. It might taste even a bit better than the Tesco white shredded cheese (was it mozzarella?). But yeah, not a halloumi.
