The only smell it has is of very, very mild aloe as aloe is one of the ingredients. Like with many aluminum free/ natural deoderants Tom's Unscented causes some skin irritation when I first switch to it or use too much. The deoderant holds up well throughout a regular day for me. Extreme physical activity could make a reaplication preferable. It rolls on clear so it doesn't seem to mark clothing, and it also doesn't clump up in armpit hair.
The container is marked and can be collected by the company TerraCycle for recycling. However, TerraCycle has recently been hit by a lawsuit and it's possible the company isn't as helpful as we would hope. Maybe the paper style used by Native deodorant would be better enviromentally.

I'm sad to dislike a product that doesn't test on animals because I really want to support them (hence buying it in the first place) but wow this deodorant makes me smell worse than if I didn't use any deodorant at all! Such a shame.

This works well for me, as sometimes you just get freaking hot and sweaty...
I love the unscented...
