Not bad, but not exactly what I was expecting. I purchased this #protein-rich powder to add to my smoothies. Although I’m crazy about #peanutbutter, I dislike how the oil seizes up when mixed with frozen ingredients and was hoping that this might be the solution to my problems. Well, it is, and it isn’t. I guess when they remove the fat from the peanuts, a lot of the flavor goes with it, because it doesn’t exactly taste like peanut butter. I added quite a bit to my blender, but it seemed to be missing that rich, identifiable taste. It reminds me much more of kinako, the roasted soybean flour commonly used in desserts. I also tried the “low-fat peanut butter” recipe on the back of the jar (2 Tbsp powder + 1.5 Tbsp water) and I have to say, that was extremely underwhelming. #toohealthy

In my opinion, the best ways to use this product are 1) in oatmeal, and 2) in a savory sauce. I’ve started mixing this powder into my overnight oats; it works well there, imparting a satisfying sweet-and-salty nuttiness. It also makes a pretty fantastic dressing for dishes like #peanut noodles or gado-gado! It resuspends nicely and isn’t heavy or hard to mix as regular peanut butter can be. I think this big jar was about $10-11 on sale at Safeway, which is sensible considering there’s quite a lot of servings per container. I probably would get it again: although somewhat lackluster when it comes to smoothies, this powder is definitely still useful, and I’ve enjoyed experimenting with new ways to incorporate it into my food.

kyu Ah — I don’t really have a recipe, I just sort of throw everything into a bowl! But lately I’ve been doing old-fashioned oats, chia and flax seeds, peanut butter powder, and soy milk . . . plus a little maple syrup sometimes, and then fruit on top. The texture becomes thick and pudding-like overnight. I hope you can find a method that works for you! :-) 1 likeReply
