Field Farm Animal Sanctuary posted about this activism conducted by Brian May and an organisation he founded called Save-Me.
Having watched Chris Packham and his colleagues tracking fox hunters on Boxing Day to expose the persistent cruelty of these activities, when they are meant to be illegal in the UK, it is encouraging to see people attempting to shift attitudes and practices in a practical way.
Some may say that humans shouldn’t be ‘putting animals to work’ at all. That would be ideal. In this case could it be defended as a positive interim stage where humans and animals support each other in making a change? I feel it is progressive. Interested to hear what other abillion members think.

‘Brian May, famed guitarist of Queen and passionate animal rights advocate, has long been vocal about his efforts to combat animal cruelty, particularly in the context of hunting. His involvement with *Save-Me*, an organization he co-founded to protect wildlife, focuses on advocating for ethical alternatives to traditional fox hunting. This post highlights an event where May and other supporters were engaged in a "cruelty-free" day of tracking with the Three Counties Bloodhounds in Swansea, a practice that underscores his commitment to both animal welfare and community service.

Bloodhounds, known for their exceptional scent-tracking abilities, have been traditionally used in hunting scenarios, but this event diverged from the conventional. Rather than chasing foxes, the bloodhounds were put to work tracking a human runner, an activity that serves as both a training exercise and a valuable service for search and rescue efforts. The bloodhounds' ability to track missing persons is an important contribution to public safety, and this event helped demonstrate their skills in a controlled and ethical environment.

May’s involvement with the *Save-Me* organization and initiatives like these reflect a growing movement within the UK and beyond to rethink the role of animals in human activities. By emphasizing the use of bloodhounds for non-cruelty-based purposes, such as search and rescue, May and his team aim to promote a more humane and beneficial relationship between humans and animals. This approach not only helps communities but also ensures that animals can fulfill their natural abilities in a way that serves a greater good without harm.’
