Make your voice heard! Submit a public comment to the USDA telling them that you support the new dietary changes recommended by the 2025 US Dietary Advisory Committee, and that you agree that we should encourage people to eat more beans, lentils, and peas.

More details:
The 2025 US Dietary Advisory Committee released a scientific statement that could affect the 2025-2030 US Dietary Guidelines. The statement recommends that the protein section of MyPlate starts with beans, peas, and lentils while moving meat to the end of the list due to the higher saturated fat content (which can contribute to cardiovascular disease and other chronic health conditions) and higher environmental impact of meat. They are also recommending that dairy be taken off the primary list of foods for a healthy dietary pattern due to the emphasis on health equity (since a lot of the world is lactose intolerant)

This is great news, but we need to make sure they actually implement these recommendations by including them in the 2025 Dietary Guidelines. Help by leaving a comment!

alistar I have children’s books in my classroom with the old food pyramid which now seems wildly biased and false. 2 likesReply
edav334 Yeah, definitely is! It's sad that meat and dairy lobbyists could have such a strong impact on the government 1 likeReply
