Iris was rescued from the dairy industry when she was a young calf. Had she not been rescued, Iris would have spent her life as a milk machine, being impregnated and having her babies taken away so her milk could be consumed by humans. This process would repeat again and again until her milk production declined and she would be sent to slaughter. We encourage everyone to consider swapping out cow's milk for a plant milk to help decrease the amount of animal sufffering in the world.

But if you needed another reason to make the switch, dairy milk is also significantly worse for the planet than plant-based milks. Dairy milk uses more land and water and causes more emissions and eutrophication (polluting ecosystems with excess nutrients) than all of the most common plant milks. Given the climate crisis and rate of environmental destruction we are facing, ditching dairy and choosing plant milks is one way we can make an impact. It's easy to feel helpless given the current state of the planet, and many things are simply out of our control. But one thing we can do is use our power as consumers to decrease the demand for products that are harmful to the planet and to animals, and increase the demand for cleaner, kinder alternatives 💚🐮🌏
