Review of Cashew Milk Cream Cheese Cinnamon Raisin - Miyoko's Creamery by beckyyy
I never liked dairy cream cheese but I like several nut and seed based cream cheeses. The only “sweet” flavor I’ve had before this one is the pumpkin flavor from Kite Hill. Since I found this one for a good deal it was worth a go! The cream cheese is quite thick and a bit challenging to spread at first but softens up after being out of the fridge. The flavor is nice and, though it’s got zip, it’s not too tangy for me. It has small pieces of raisons throughout. Not too sweet. Enjoyed it on a bagel and some graham crackers so far. I’m glad I’m trying it and I do enjoy it but it’s not something that I think I’ll crave.
I made sure to include a photo of the packaging showing Miyoko hugging a Holstein as to help showcase the intent of this company at its start. Miyoko has been an incredible innovator and one who always leads with compassion. Unfortunately there’s not much room for compassion in capitalism and Miyoko has been thrown off the board of the company she founded. They’re rebranding their look for an April launch. Miyoko has stated that she doesn’t want her company attacked so I had decided to not boycott them but after thinking about it further, it’s obvious she couldn’t publicly support a boycott since she is taking them to court. So…I’m not sure what the best thing is to do. It is most certainly a shame though.
$2.99 at Grocery Outlet
(Update: 2 months later - my GO has had this in stock and I’m now obsessed. I was wrong thinking I wouldn’t crave it. Not sure what I’m going to do when my stash runs out as no other store in my area stocks it and ordering it online (and at full price when I’ve been paying either $1.99 or $2.99) is pretty expensive. If you see it and think you’ll like it, grab it while you can!)
