Review of Ground Mushroom Coffee with Probiotics - Defend - Four Sigmatic by aqualing

I don’t usually review coffee unless there’s something special (now I think abt it, maybe I should have🤔 a $ is a $)
This is a sample from Four Sigmatic, a company that started in medicinal mushrooms🍄, and expanded to other functional edibles over the years, always with fungi in the heart (I’m a fan of their protein powder btw).
Their mushroom coffee has been a big hit since the introduction☕️. #organic and #fairtrade coffee with high quality #adaptogen and #probiotics, who wouldn’t want that? Well, not me🤫
I add mushrooms to my coffee all the time and love the multitasking idea of it. However, they’re just no expert in coffee roasting. Honestly I’ve been spoiled by all the options of specialty coffees🙄
But I wasn’t going to let it go to waste, right? So I made a pourover with it (Last time I tried their coffee I used areopress due to the fine ground, and it turned out to be overly extracted already and super bitter😑). This time, it’s much balanced but still lackluster. There’s not much body even though it’s obviously a dark roast, nor is there any notable flavor (possibly bc it’s pre-ground and roasted who-knows-when).
It’s a convient product to have your quality caffeine fix with other added benefits (both #chaga and #turkeytail mushrooms are good for immunity, #yacon juice powder provides #prebiotics to the gut🦠). But if you’re looking for a great tasting coffee, perhaps look further.
