Haw Flakes

A colleague gave me these #hawflakes. My first thought was that it is some kind of flaky spice, but it is not. It is candy.

It is Chinese sweets made from the fruit of the Hawthorn.

It is like a fruit roll but just a bit drier. It has the colour of a guava roll.

I think Asian shop might have these, but I won't buy them.

sunshineyum We used to eat tons of these as kids. Recently saw them again and was excited but they tasted dry and meh. Not sure what my childhood self saw in them. 3 likesReply
kyu These weren’t my favorite, but I think my childhood self liked anything with sugar2 likesReply
veronicagroen I never knew these existed 😳. There is something familiar about the taste I can't place.Reply
berryveganplanet I’ve had guava roll before but not these. Interesting! 1 likeReply
annetaylor So interesting - never even knew these existed. Haven’t seen them (and I shop a lot in Asian stores!) Will look out for them - for the novelty, if not for the taste1 likeReply
veronicagroen It is small in size, I think they might only have it at the till. It is really worth a try and not bad tasting. My colleague bought it from A H Khan wholesalers, we buy our soy chunks from them as well.Reply
