Did You Know?

As you may recall, we shared earlier this week that we intend to share our perspectives on which of the cities are most ready to embrace a sustainable future.

London ranked 1st in our City of the Future 2022 report #cotf
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say London is a mecca for folks living a plant-based lifestyle. The @abillion10 community in #london registered ~20,000 reviews of #plantbased and #crueltyfree products and vegan dishes at restaurants. With over 900 restaurants that offer vegan options, the environment is conducive to live a plant-based lifestyle or make the switch to include more vegan options in people’s lifestyles.
How about policy commitment and progress? The United Kingdom as a country has had progress on multiple UN Sustainable Development goals along Green Spaces, Air Quality, Transportation and Clean Energy etc. A range of quantitative targets set with a strong emphasis on transparency regarding data accessibility for necessary stakeholders. There is clear ambition to make sure that all new developments are zero carbon, with clean supplies of energy and high energy efficiency designed in from the start.
While the United Kingdom continues to work on reducing emissions, it generated a total carbon emission of ~370 million tonnes and green house gas emissions of ~450 million tonnes. At 203 kilotonnes CO2 per square kilometre, the city of London, historically the UK capital’s financial district, had the highest carbon intensity.
Summary:
Rank: 1
Final Score: 1.7
Plant Based Living Score: 1.5
Green Policy Score: 1.0
Greenhouse Gas Emissions & Waste Score: 3.0
