Love putu piring! It’s made of rice flour with gula melaka filling and topped with shredded coconut. One of my all-time favourite local snacks. This was really tasty, best eaten when hot and fluffy.
I've been eating this putu piring (steamed flour embedded with palm sugar and shredded coconut on the side) since it has gone from 3 for $1 to 5 for $2 to 5 for $2.50 😂 I don't mind the price increases because I don't know of any other place that sells this or at least does it as well as they do. If there are please comment to let me know! Best eaten piping hot when the palm sugar is all melty 😍#putupiring #gulamelaka #palmsugar #pandan #coconut #malay #hawker
This sure does live up to its reputation. Love the combination of gooey gula melaka and lashings of freshly grated coconut.
I like how so many Asian desserts are accidentally vegan! The way the steamed rice flour and Gula Melaka, topped with a generous serving of coconut flakes, blend together is wonderful. I got this at night around 8pm and it was good, but it's best to get it in the morning or afternoon when it's fresh and piping hot.
It was our first time trying putu piring after watching Netflix series "Street Food". Shredded coconut is so fresh, steamed rice cake is moist and light. Amazed at how gentle the sweetness of gula melaka (palm sugar) is. Fell in love with this delicate little sweets😘
Got a box of 4 original from East Village ($3.20). Skin is soft, but the filling is quite disappointing. Some parts of the gula melaka are in chunks and not melted :(
Love this little snack, I got it for a friend from overseas to try! The aunty was so impressed with my Malay that she wrapped me an extra :D
